Close to the finish of the work on the pond , the birds were getting used to us being out in that side of the yard. It is so dry and hot here and we have two bird baths by the pond that they visit often. It is hard to get this close to doves. I had been sitting at the table resting for a while when this one flew in.

MIA The Pond Project
I've been away from the blog for a few days. We've been working out in the heat and the smoke redoing our pond. I don't know why we just had to wait till it it got so hot but we did.
It was looking pretty bad for a while - no water, just a little mud at the bottom. 'Somebody' shot a hole in it trying to get rid of a water moccasin ( no, it wasn't me).

Check This Out
I was amazed at the size of this tomato, but I was totally amazed at the taste! This is an heirloom plant called Brandywine Pink. It goes from green to pink and then a wine color. I will try some more next year. I planted 5 of these, but they are susceptible to disease and I lost 3.

Salsa Anyone?
I picked all these out of the garden today, along with some more. Can't you just taste the salsa? Mmmm Good!
When I went to the garden this morning, I discovered that the deer had been there last night and had eaten the tops off of my green bean row! So... Tom and I had a conversation about fixing my hot-wire. Hopefully they won't get back in there!
