Deer

Not many deer are coming to our feeder now (of course, it's deer season) but this is a nice one!

This was at Tom's deer stand last month.

No Velvet

The deer at our feeder out back are starting to rub the velvet off of their horns. These two deer were out there last night. They are the oldest and biggest. Pretty good sized for this area.

No Horns

The deer out back have shed their horns, but it doesn't keep them from fighting!

No, the date and time is not set on the camera.

Window View

I had Tom put up a bird feeder outside my bedroom window and this is what I have to put up with all day!

I will miss the azalea blooms when they are gone!

Today's Photos

This morning I went out to see if I could pick up some pecans from Mom's tree. I had picked up a few and heard a noise by the door. I turned to see what it was and a young wren had  flown into the glass door.

Tom went out and picked it up and put it in the window sill. A few minutes later it stood up.

Two adult wrens came into the pecan tree and the little one flew off.

Then on my way out to physical therapy I saw these guys -
They were in the church yard next to McDonalds!

Doves

Close to the finish of the work on the pond , the birds were getting used to us being out in that side of the yard. It is so dry and hot here and we have two bird baths by the pond that they visit often. It is hard to get this close to doves. I had been sitting at the table resting for a while when this one flew in.

The End

Hopefully I don't bore you with the last of the bluebird pictures. These were taken right before the little ones left the house. We were gone for a couple of days and the bluebirds are all gone. We still see them once in a while, but not very often.

Where's my worm?

Tom called me out in the yard to see this - the bluebirds were in a frenzy. They were flying back and forth everywhere and fluttering in front of their house.

We finally figured out it was the blue jays getting too close!

Turkey Season

Turkey season is still going on. We have spent a few days at the camp trying to get a bird. We have heard several and seen some on the road (while we riding  around) but no score. The most exciting thing was  - sitting in the bushes, relaxed and getting sleepy - I hear the pine straw rustle and look down and a snake (I think a moccasin) is trying to crawl up my leg! Needless to say - my heart must be good because I am still here and I can crawl really fast!  Scares me to think about it.

Bluebirds

In the afternoon, while we were sitting out in the yard, I set up my tripod and got some more pictures of the bluebirds.
The sentinel

Bluebirds

We've got two birdhouses up by  the garden this year. Yesterday we were working out in the garden and discovered the male bluebirds (as in two) were feeding the mother on the nest. Frame credits -
